Master Jiang from Xiaqiu (Xiaqiu Jiang Gong 瑕丘江公) was a Confucian scholar of the mid-Former Han period 前漢 (206 BCE-8 CE). His personal name is unknown. His home town was Xiaqiu (modern Ziyang 滋陽, Shandong). He was a student of Shen Pei 申培 and was instructed by his teacher in the Guliang Commentary (Guliangzhuan 穀梁傳) to the Chunqiu 春秋 "Spring and Autumn Annals", as well as the Shijing 詩經 "Book of Songs". During the reign of Emperor Wu 漢武帝 (r. 141-87 BCE), Master Jiang became acquainted with the eminent Confucian scholar Dong Zhongshu 董仲舒 who proved to be the better disputer of the Confucian Classics because Dong was more expert in all the Five Classics. During the reign of Emperor Xuan 漢宣帝 (r. 74-49 BCE), Master Jiang's grandson became a professor (boshi 博士 "erudite") for the Guliang COmmentary. Sources: Pang Pu 龐樸 (1997).
