Daye shiyi ji 大業拾遺記, also called Nanbu yanhua lu 南部煙花錄 or Suiyilu 隋遺錄, is a collection of "remnant" stories from the history of the Daye reign-period 大業 (605-617) of the Sui dynasty 隋 (581-618). The book of 2 juan length is traditionally, but wrongly, attributed to the scholar Yan Shigu 顏師古 (581-645).
The authenticity of Yan's authorship was already doubted by Wang Dechen 王得臣 (1036-1116; author of Zhushi 麈史) and Yao Kuan 姚寬 (1105-1162; author of Xixi congyu 西溪叢語). The Republican expert Lu Xun 魯迅 (1881-1936) rated the collection written in a "crude and careless" way, and the author's style as inferior.
The book records the journey to the new capital, Jiangdu 江都, of Emperor Yang 隋煬帝 (r. 604-617) of the Sui dynasty, exposing the brutality and reckless extravagance of the emperor and, to some extent, reflecting the suffering of the ordinary people. The style is colloquial, and the narrative is somewhat scattered and lacking in coherence.
The text is included in the series Shuofu 說郛, Baichuan xuehai 百川學海, Lidai xiaoshi 歷代小史, Tang-Song chuanqi ji 唐宋傳奇集 and Xiangyan congshu 香艷叢書.
