Guangyang zaji 廣陽雜記 "Miscellaneous records of Guangyang" is a geographical work compiled during the early Qing period 清 (1644-1911) by Liu Xianting 劉獻廷 (1648–1695), courtesy name Jizhuang 繼莊 or Junxian 君賢, style Guangyangzi 廣陽子. He was a native of Daxing 大興 in the province of Zhili 直隸 (present-day Beijing municipality).
Liu Xianting devoted himself wholeheartedly to the study of statecraft, and "left no aspect of astronomy, geography, or cartography unexplored." Wan Sitong 萬斯同 (1638-1702) once invited him to participate in the compilation of the official dynastic history of the Ming 明 (1368-1644), Mingshi 明史, at the official historiographical bureau (guoshiguan 國史館). After Liu Xianting's death, his disciple Huang Zongxia 黃宗夏 compiled and edited his remaining writings into the Guangyang zaji.
The work of 5 juan discourses miscellaneously on phonology, geography, and related fields of learning; records anecdotes and lost accounts from the Ming period as well as the official system of the early Qing; and also contains material of an archaeological nature. The textual investigations and argumentation throughout the book are relatively meticulous and thorough. The work holds considerable reference value for the study of Ming and Qing historical events and institutions.
Extant editions include the series Jifu congshu 畿輔叢書, Gongshuntang congshu 功順堂叢書, Guocui congshu 國粹叢書, and a punctuated edition prepared by Wang Beiping 汪北平 and Xia Zhihe 夏志和, published by the Zhonghua Shuju 中華書局 in 1957.
