Lenglu zashi 冷廬雜識 "Miscellaneous notes from the Cold Hut" is a "brush-notes"-style book (biji 筆記) written during the late Qing period 清 (1644-1911) by Lu Yitian 陸以湉 (1802-1865), courtesy name Dingpu 定圃, style Jingan 敬安, a native of Tongxiang 桐鄉, Zhejiang. Having obtained the jinshi degree during the Daoguang reign-period 道光 (1821-1850), he eventually served as an educational instructor (jiaoshou 教授) in Hangzhou 杭州. Lu also compiled the books Lenglu yihua 冷廬醫話, Zaixu mingyi lei'an 再續名醫類案, Sulu oubi 蘇盧偶筆 and Hangzhou jinan shi 杭州紀難詩.
The book in 8 juan was completed in 1856. It contains about 900 entries, together with two supplementary entries. Its contents are extremely wide-ranging, covering historical events and figures from the Qing and earlier periods, as well as science and military strategy, the Classics and historical studies, philology, poetry and prose, calligraphy and painting, epigraphy, geography, and medicine. The language is accessible, while the evidential research is comparatively detailed and meticulous. Some of the medical prescriptions recorded in the work, such as the bajigao 巴鯽膏 ointment described in fascicle 3 and remedies for sores in juan 5, were considered practically useful.
The book also contains detailed accounts of the First Opium War (1839-1842) and the Taiping Rebellion (1851-1864), and may therefore serve as corroborating historical source material. Surviving editions include the series Qingdai biji congkan 清代筆記叢刊 and Biji xiaoshuo daguan 筆記小說大觀, as well as the punctuated and annotated edition prepared by Cui Fanzhi 崔凡芝 and published by the Zhonghua Shuju 中華書局 in 1984.
