Suiyin manlu 隨隱漫錄 "Loose records of one who followed into seclusion" is a "brush-notes"-style book (biji 筆記) written during the Song period 宋 (960-1279) by Chen Shichong 陳世崇, courtesy name Boren 伯仁, style Suiyin 隨隱. He hailed from Chongren 崇仁 (in today's Jiangxi province), or probably from Linchuan 臨川. As a young man, he accompanied his father into the Forbidden City and soon obtained a post as a lecturer in the Conversion Hall of the Eastern Palace (Donggong Jiangtang shuoshu> 東宮講堂說書) and then as a composer in the Two Palaces (lianggong zhuanshu 兩宮撰述). Later, he worked as a legal researcher at the Capital Security Office (huangchengsi jianfa 皇城司檢法), but was forced to retire under Counsellor-in-chief Jia Sidao 賈似道 (1213-1275). He then returned to his home town and began compiling his 5 juan "scrolls" long book.
The Suiyin manlu mainly focuses on poetry critique and is therefore an essential source on the history of literature and the life of poets under the late Southern Song 南宋 (1127-1279).
The Suiyin manlu is included in the series Siku quanshu 四庫全書, Baihai 稗海, Gujin wenyi congshu 古今文藝叢書, Biji xiaoshuo daguan 筆記小說大觀 and Songren xiaoshuo 宋人小說.
