Lingnan yishu 嶺南遺書

Lingnan yishu 嶺南遺書 is a series of collectanea (congshu 叢書) including books written in the region of Guangdong during the Ming 明 (1368-1644) and the early Qing 清 (1644-1911) periods. It was compiled by the Qing-period scholar Wu Chongyao 伍崇曜 (1810-1863), original name Yuanwei 元薇, "trade name" (shangmin 商名) Shaorong 紹榮, courtesy name Ziyuan 紫垣 or Liangfu 良輔, from Nanhai 南海, Guangdong. Wu was a son of Wu Bingjian 伍秉鑑 (1769-1843), the famous hong merchant Howqua (Haoguan 浩官), who was the owner of the famous library Yueya Studio 粵雅堂 and publisher of the series Yueyatang congshu 粵雅堂叢書.

Most of the titles included are concerned with history, others with classical learning. The series is arranged in 6 collections (ji 集) which were published in four batches between 1831 and 1861.

Lingnan congshu 嶺南叢書

Wu Lanxiu 吳蘭修 (1789-1839), courtesy name Shihua 石華, from Meizhou 梅州, Guandgong, compiled a much shorter series with a similar title, also including books on and written in the region of Lingnan. Three titles date from the Ming, and one from the Song period 宋 (960-1279). His Lingnan congshu 嶺南叢書 includes the books Taiquan xiangli 泰泉鄉禮 by Huang Zuo 黃佐 (1490-1566), Haiyu 海語 by Huang Zhong 黃衷 (1474-1553), Linghai yutu 嶺海輿圖 by Yao Yu 姚虞 (b. 1507), and Nanhai baiyong 南海百詠 by Fang Xinru 方信儒 (Song period).
