Pinghuapu 瓶花譜 "On Flower Vases"

The Pinghuapu 瓶花譜 "On Flower Vases" is a book on decorative flowers written by the Ming period 明 (1368-1644) scholar Zhang Qiande 張謙德, who has also authored the book Qinghe shuhua fang 清河書畫舫. The short Pinghuapu was written in his younger years. It is divided into three parts, the first describing flower vases of different qualities (pingpin 瓶品), the second part describing different types of flowers suitable for vases, and how to cut the stalk and twigs to arrange them in the best manner. The last chapter deals with the protection and conservation of vases. The Pinghuapu is to be found in the reprint series Baichuan xuehai 百川學海, Chongding Xinshangbian 重訂欣賞編, Baoyantang miji 寶顏堂秘笈, Shuofu 說郛, 古今說部叢書, Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編 and Meishu congshu 美術叢書.
