Wudiji 吳地記

Wudiji 吳地記 "Records of the land of Wu" is an ancient local gazetteer of Suzhou 江蘇, Jiangsu, written during the Tang period 唐 (618-907) by Lu Guangwei 陸廣微 xxx.

The book, finished in 876, consists of 2 juan and was already lost during the Song period 宋 (960-1279). It describes the geography, administration, household situation, tax revenue and economy, as well as touristic spots and eminent persons from the region of Suzhou. The geographic information includes mountains, lakes, rivers, bridges and monasteries, the city of Suzhou and the surrounding seven districts. The history of the region is narrates from the times of the Great Lord Taibo 泰伯, first ruler of the state of Wu 吳, and King Fucha 夫差 (r. 495-473) down to the Tang period. The second part of the book is a continuation of the fragmentary first part and was compiled by an unknown author during the Northern Song period.

The preface was also written during that time. The Wudiji is the only surviving local gazetteer from the Tang period.

It is included in the series Gujin yishi 古今逸史, Siku quanshu 四庫全書 and Zhongguo fangzhi congshu 中國方志叢書.
