Xin Sheng 辛勝 was a general of the state of Qin 秦 during the very late Warring States period 戰國 (5th cent.-221 BCE). He participated in Wang Jian's 王翦 campaign against the state of Yan 燕 that was launched as a punitive expedition after the assassination attempt by Jing Ke 荊軻 in 227. Yan liaised her troops with the remaining forces of Prince Jia 公子嘉 (r. 228-222), the last throne pretender of Zhao 趙, who had founded the state of Dai 代. In the battle of Yishui River 易水 (present-day Yixian 易縣, Hebei), Qin defeated the troops of Dai and Yan, and annihilated Dai. A year later, the troops of Qin occupied the capital of Yan, Ji 薊 (today's Beijing), and King Xi 燕王喜 (r. 255-222) fled to the east. The king was captured in 222, and Yan was wiped out.
