Ping Nian jilüe 平捻紀略 "Military annals of the pacification of the Nian" is a privately written history of the Nian rebellion 捻 written by the Qing-period 清 (1644-1911) writer Li Hongnian 李鶴年 (?-1890), courtesy name Zihe 子和, style Xueqin 雪琴. In 1872 he was appointed governor-general of Min-Zhe 閩浙 and in 1875 overseer of the Grand Canal in Hedong 河東河道總督.

In 1864, the Taiping 太平 general Lai Wenguang 賴文光 (1827-1868) liaised his troops with the leader of the Nian rebellion Ren Zhu 任柱 (d. 1867) and Zhang Zongyu 張宗禹 and defeated the Qing troops in several battles, in which two princes were killed. It took the Qing government several years to quell the rebellion, until Zeng Guofan 曾國藩 (1811-1872) and Li Hongzhang 李鴻章 (1823-1901) were able to destroy the last contingents of the rebels in 1868. Li Hongnian, as governor of Henan, took part in the campaigns.

When the war was over he started compiling a book about the Nian rebellion and ist suppression. His book is an important unofficial document of that time. It was printed in 1869.
